Who is Dela for?
+Dela is for anyone buying or selling on platforms like Facebook Marketplace, Gumtree, or any other peer-to-peer platform. Whether you're selling a phone, buying furniture, or trading electronics, Dela makes the transaction safe for both sides.
How does Dela's payment system work?
+When a buyer pays for an item, the funds are held securely by Stripe (a global payments provider). The money is only released to the seller once the item has been delivered and confirmed by the buyer.
The buyer has 24 hours to accept or reject the deal. If nothing is actioned within 24 hours, the deal is automatically successful, and funds are released to the seller.
This way, the buyer's money is protected and the seller is guaranteed payment. Both sides are happy.
Why do I have to pay a fee?
+The buyer's protection fee covers the cost of securely holding your payment, integrated shipping and tracking, identity verification, and buyer protection on every deal. It's a small price for complete peace of mind.
Sellers always use Dela for free. No listing fees, no commission, no hidden costs.
Can I return my order?
+At Dela, we understand that sometimes things don't go as planned. Because we're not a traditional marketplace, returns are only available under specific circumstances. Once the item has been delivered, the buyer has 24 hours to accept or reject the item. If the buyer does not action either within 24 hours, the deal is automatically successful.
Returns may be approved if a rejection is actioned within the 24 hour countdown and:
- The item received is significantly different from what was described
- The item is damaged or faulty upon delivery
- The item is lost in transit and cannot be recovered
Returns won't be available for:
- Change of mind
- Fit or sizing issues (unless incorrect to the listing)
- Items that match the listing but don't meet personal expectations
If you believe you're eligible for a return or refund, please contact us within 24 hours of delivery via chat, email or phone, and provide a description of the issue, clear photos (if applicable), and your order reference.
Refunds can take up to 10 business days to reflect in your bank account. The Dela Support Team will help you through the process.
Do I have to meet the buyer or seller in person?
+No. Dela handles shipping so you never have to meet a stranger. Book a courier through Dela's in-app shipping or use your own courier. Either way, tracking is logged in the app so both sides can follow the delivery.
Can I use my own courier?
+Yes, you can choose between Dela Shipping or Own Shipping (organising your own delivery). Dela Shipping offers a convenient option for standard deliveries with selected carriers integrated directly into the platform, while Own Shipping gives you more flexibility, particularly for larger or bulky items. Dela integrates with AfterShip, allowing you to track shipments from a wide range of supported courier partners by entering a valid tracking number. For the most reliable experience, we recommend using a major courier provider with a standard tracking number, such as Australia Post, DHL, FedEx, or freight carriers like Hunter Express, as some on-demand or same-day courier services may not provide compatible tracking or update within Dela.

How does Dela verify users?
