What is Dela?
+Dela is the trust layer for buying and selling on platforms like Facebook Marketplace and Gumtree. We're not a marketplace and we don't list items. We sit between you and the other person so the deal is safe for both sides.
The buyer pays through Dela, the payment is processed securely by Stripe, and the seller is paid once the item arrives and the buyer is happy with it. The seller can book a courier through Dela or use their own and add the tracking number, so the whole delivery is tracked in the app and no one has to meet a stranger or risk a dodgy bank transfer.

How does Dela's payment system work?
+When a buyer pays for an item, the payment is processed securely by Stripe, a global payments provider. Nothing goes to the seller yet.
Once the item is delivered, the buyer has 24 hours to check it over and confirm everything's good. The seller is paid as soon as they do. If the buyer doesn't action anything within 24 hours, the deal completes automatically and the seller is paid.
Either way the buyer's money is protected until the item shows up as described, and the seller knows the payment is real and on its way. Both sides are covered.
Why do I have to pay a fee?
+The buyer's protection fee covers secure payment processing, integrated shipping and tracking, identity verification, and buyer protection on every deal. It's a small price for complete peace of mind.
Sellers always use Dela for free. No listing fees, no commission, no hidden costs.
Can I return my order?
+At Dela, we understand that sometimes things don't go as planned. Because we're not a traditional marketplace, returns are only available under specific circumstances. Once the item has been delivered, the buyer has 24 hours to accept or reject the item. If the buyer does not action either within 24 hours, the deal is automatically successful.
Returns may be approved if a rejection is actioned within the 24 hour countdown and:
- The item received is significantly different from what was described
- The item is damaged or faulty upon delivery
- The item is lost in transit and cannot be recovered
Returns won't be available for:
- Change of mind
- Fit or sizing issues (unless incorrect to the listing)
- Items that match the listing but don't meet personal expectations
If you believe you're eligible for a return or refund, please contact us within 24 hours of delivery via chat, email or phone, and provide a description of the issue, clear photos (if applicable), and your order reference.
Refunds can take up to 10 business days to reflect in your bank account. The Dela Support Team will help you through the process.
Do I have to meet the buyer or seller in person?
+No. Dela handles shipping so you never have to meet a stranger. Book a courier through Dela's in-app shipping or use your own courier. Either way, tracking is logged in the app so both sides can follow the delivery.
Can I use my own courier?
+Yes, you can choose between Dela Shipping or Own Shipping (organising your own delivery). Dela Shipping offers a convenient option for standard deliveries with selected carriers integrated directly into the platform, while Own Shipping gives you more flexibility, particularly for larger or bulky items. Dela integrates with AfterShip, allowing you to track shipments from a wide range of supported courier partners by entering a valid tracking number. For the most reliable experience, we recommend using a major courier provider with a standard tracking number, such as Australia Post, DHL, FedEx, or freight carriers like Hunter Express, as some on-demand or same-day courier services may not provide compatible tracking or update within Dela.
